Elon Musk’s xAI May Launch a Consumer App

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, is reportedly preparing to launch a standalone app for consumers. According to The Wall Street Journal, the app will be similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, offering users access to xAI’s Grok chatbot from their devices.

The app is expected to debut after xAI completes its next funding round, which could raise up to $5 billion, valuing the company at $50 billion—double its value from six months ago, according to The Financial Times. As part of a loyalty reward, Musk has reportedly granted investors who backed his $44 billion Twitter acquisition 25% of xAI’s shares.

Some of Musk’s prominent backers, including Fidelity, Larry Ellison, and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, could benefit from the company’s rapid growth in value, potentially recovering their investments. Once the funding round concludes, xAI will have raised approximately $11 billion.
